Development Contribution Scheme Fees 2008 - 2012

Section 48 Planning & Development Act 2000

The Development Contribution Scheme as adopted by the members of Galway City Council at the City Council Meeting held on the 6th October, 2008 are detailed hereunder.

Residential

 

Unit sizes under 73M²

€11,313 per residential unit

Unit sizes 73M² and under 125M²

€12,753 per residential unit

Unit sizes 125M² and over

€14,182 per residential unit

 

Commercial

 

Shops, Restaurants, Night Clubs and Public Houses

€ 65.00 sq.m

Offices, Leisure Uses, Medical and Allied Professions, Hotels and Guesthouses

€ 44.00 sq.m

Retail Warehouse/Bulky Goods

€ 32.00 sq.m.

Distribution Warehouse, Industry

€ 11.00 sq.m.

B & B Accommodation

€ 700.00 p/bedroom (in addition to charge of €14,182)


Where no parking space is provided in conjunction with above Development in the City Centre an additional transportation charge of €2,597.00 will apply per unit normally generated. This will only apply to any additional areas specified in the Galway City Development Plan 2005 - 2011.

An Exemption / Reduced rate will apply as follows

Supported Accommodation

50% of rate


Supported Accommodation to include drug treatment facilities, housing for disabled and related projects.

Index Linking

The rate of contribution will be increased in line with the  Wholesale Price Index for Building and Construction in November each year.

The increased rates will apply to all relevant decisions made by Galway City Council from the 1st December, 2008 to 30th November, 2009.
The rates are reviewed on an annual basis, in line with the adopted scheme.
